BREAKING BARRIES PROJECT

The Healing Balm Foundation carried out a community sensitization targeting school going children , parents, persons with disability on dangers on early pregnancies and early marriages in Kazungula District at Sons of thunder primary school .

In response to the alarmingly high rate of teenage pregnancies and early marriages in the community, traditional leaders reached out to the Healing Balm Foundation to conduct a sensitization meeting. The school was excited to host this important engagement, recognizing the urgent need to address these issues and ensure a brighter future for its pupils.

The key issues addressed included:
Early teenage and early Marriage sensitization
The foundation strongly condemned early and forced marriages, advocating for every child’s right to grow in a safe and nurturing environment. Awareness was raised on the legal implications and psychological effects of child abuse.

Rights of the Child
The program highlighted the basic rights of every child, including access to education, protection from harm, and freedom of expression. Parents and guardians were urged to uphold and respect these rights.

Drug Abuse and Defilement
Youths and parents were educated on the dangers of drug abuse and its impact on personal health, family stability, and societal progress. The need for early intervention and support systems was stressed.
The outreach combined interactive sessions, fostering community engagement and commitment to change. The Foundation calls upon well meaning citizens and leaders to ACT NOW!
