Community Women Engage with The Healing Balm Foundation.

On March 28, 2025, The Healing Balm Foundation conducted meeting with community women in Senkobo village to discuss key issues and foster community ownership and responsibilities.

Key Highlights:

1. Community women shared valuable insights into their cultural norms, highlighting the importance of traditional practices and customs.
2. Women discussed how they train their children, especially girls, to respect cultural values and adhere to traditional dress codes.
3. Women expressed concerns about lacking knowledge, which hinders their participation in governance.
4. Some women hold traditional beliefs, stating that men are the sole leaders and decision-makers.
5. Some women face restrictions from their husbands, preventing them from participating in women’s activities, such as Women’s Day celebrations.

Solutions to challenges:

1. Provide training to empower women with knowledge and skills to participate in governance.
2. Organize community dialogues and awareness campaigns to challenge traditional beliefs and promote gender equality.
3. Develop programs to support women’s empowerment, including economic empowerment and social support networks.
   4.Conduct awareness meeting on women’s rights and the importance of women’s participation in community activities and in governance.
4. Engage with community leaders and men to promote understanding and support for women’s empowerment and participation.

1. Collaborate with local authorities and stakeholders to improve clinic facilities.
2. Work with local authorities and stakeholders to construct a dam,providing water for domestic animals.
3. Enhance market and shelter to support women’s economic empowerment.
