Gender inclusion is a fundamental human right! According to CEDAW (Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women), gender inclusion means “Equality between men and women, and the elimination of all forms of discrimination on the basis of sex. ” It’s about creating a world where everyone has equal rights, opportunities, and participation in all areas of life.

But, despite progress, there are still barriers that hinder gender inclusion. Societal and cultural barriers like stereotypes, biases, patriarchal norms, and cultural practices perpetuate gender-based discrimination. Institutional and organizational barriers, such as discriminatory policies, lack of diversity, and inadequate training, also prevent gender inclusion.

So, what can we do? We can start by using inclusive language, creating safe spaces, challenging biases and stereotypes, and supporting gender-diverse representation. We can promote education, awareness, and advocacy to address the root causes of gender-based discrimination.
