Backyards Gardening A Must for Households amidst Climate Change – Chipata on the Lead.

We cannot overemphasize the need for backyard gardens in each household especially with the dare effects of climate change which has caused a shortage in electricity and water in Zambia.

This had also caused the cost of living to be very expensive and almost unbearable. A woman and her children including person’s with disabilities and the elderly feel the heat the most.

With the initiative of backyard gardening,it helps to sustain the most basic relish any household should not lack -vegetables. It also reduces a household budget on purchase of the same. If well-taken care,a household may even sale some of the surplus and buy mealie meal and many other commodities.

Children are not left behind with these effects and that is why this initiative empowers more especially female parents who are always providing for their children especially female-led households.

Chipata has extremely embraced this initiative and lives are being transformed. So far,10 women under Chipata and 10 more underway,12 under Gwembe and 29 under Livingstone have been empowered.
