GIZ & EUROPEAN UNION’S 2-DAY VISIT.

Last week on Thursday and Friday,we were so delighted to have our partners visit us at our offices and consequently the two chiefdoms of Musokotwane and Mukuni to meet our trained traditional leaders who have been working tirelessly to bring about positive change in the public resources discourse to ensure transparency and accountability.

This is under the project we are currently implementing titled: Building Cultural Accountability Mechanism. They had great time to interact with our headmen/women to hear how the training has impacted them and there communities at large.

Great lessons were brought out a d they also mentioned about pertinent issues that they documented and followed up with relevant stakeholders to ensure the powers that be are held accountable.

They also presented compiled files of pertinent issues that were followed and how far they have reached.

The traditional leaders took our partner GIZ and European Union visitors to some schools among many who have now displayed school grants as a way of enhancing transparency and accountability after they dialogued with schools on the utilization of School Grants.

They are showed them their own commitment of declaration of zero tolerance to corruption which were stuck around the two chiefdoms as a commitment to the fight against corruption.

A suggestion box was also placed at Musokotwane Primary school to ensure community members can drop issues pertaining to school grants, concerns about their children etc.

One of the amazing declarations was one chief Musokotwane signed to before any of his traditional leaders to lead by example and to inculcate a mindset of zero tolerance and also as an inspiration to his subjects.

Some of the visited schools had a privilege to have a meeting with our partners who had a great time of dialogue including how school feeding program is conducted at the school and if not, what are the challenges with children’s performance, attendance etc as a result of contractors failing to supply food items.

On a lighter note, our partners joined done drama dance to celebrate with school children as they showcased their skills during their welcoming celebration of visitors to their school.

Our partners also had some meal together with our traditional leaders as they discussed along after the main meetings.

Thank you very much for this very important visit of field monitoring and outcome harvesting.
