Gender-based violence can tear families apart, leaving deep emotional scars and shattering futures. But there is hope. This week, we’ve witnessed the power of support and action in rebuilding lives.

From Trauma to Transformation

One story stands out – a woman, beaten and desperate, forced to flee with her children into the night. We provided counseling, a safe haven, and most importantly, a renewed sense of possibility. Thanks to Linda Mtonga’s generosity, they now have food, clothing, and a warm bed. Most importantly, their future looks brighter – the children, who never attended school, are now enrolled, ready to learn and dream.

Empowering for Success

Across the community, the Limbuyoti women’s group in Libuyu farms is thriving. Equipped with chickens, business training, and financial literacy skills, they’re not just surviving, they’re growing. Their success is a testament to the power of economic empowerment, a key weapon in the fight against GBV.

Breaking the Silence, Building Change

The fight against gender-based violence demands a united front. Last week, we joined stakeholders in Livingstone to discuss this critical issue. We can no longer turn a blind eye to the devastating impact of violence on families. Together, we must raise awareness, encourage reporting, and hold perpetrators accountable.

Breaking the cycle of violence requires a multifaceted approach. By offering support to survivors, fostering economic empowerment, and speaking out against abuse, we can create a future where women and children are safe, families are strong, and communities thrive.
